In the first portion of the class, we'll paint an assortment of collage papers using a gel plate. We'll explore shape, pattern, texture, layering and transparency. In the second portion of the class, we'll begin to consider composition. What makes for a satisfying mixed media painting? We'll look at value, color, line, contrast, movement, etc. We'll talk plenty of process along the way, including what to attend to in finding your own style. Because this workshop will be highly interactive, enrollment will be limited to five people. All materials will be provided, but if you already have your own gel plate, brayer, preferred acrylic paints and/or papers, please bring them!
